Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy,
whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.
Text: Fanny J. Crosby, 1820-1915
Music: Phoebe P. Knapp, 1839-1908
Fanny Crosby was blind. Once, she said that if it was possible she would like to born blind again, because, by this way, she could dedicate her first look to the Lord again.
We have sung this song during our meetings at Hald. The lyrics and the melody sound like a challenge to me. But it is not a hard challenge, it is assurance challenge! Because I know, through Jesus we are more than conquerors!
The Lord bless you and keep you!
